INTRODUCTION
사람은 혼자 설명되지 않는다. 몸에 남은 움직임과 누군가와 맺은 관계, 기억이 머문 장소와 시간의 흔적이 모여 한 사람을 이룬다.
《사이: BETWEEN US》는 눈앞의 인물과 장면보다 그 존재를 형성해 온 보이지 않는 ‘사이’에 주목한다.
여덟 명의 작가는 나와 타인, 개인과 공동체, 인간과 공간을 오가며 사람을 고정된 대상이 아닌 관계 속에서 변화하는 존재로 바라본다.
여기서 ‘사이’는 서로를 나누는 거리이자 연결하는 통로이며, 그 안에 쌓인 감정과 기억, 시간과 흔적이 전시의 중심이 된다.
서로 다른 삶에서 출발한 여덟 개의 경험은 한 공간에 모여 서로를 비추고, 또 하나의 새로운 사람과의 ‘사이’를 만들어 낸다.
김시율은 도시를 가로지르는 도로와 그 아래에서 살아가는 사람들의 일상을 통해 인간과 도시 공간의 관계를 기록한다.
김서현우는 낯선 동네 위에 살아보지 않은 삶과 기억을 겹쳐 놓으며 집과 가족, 소속감의 의미를 되묻는다.
서민경은 분리되고 재구성된 신체의 움직임을 통해 몸짓이 인간의 태도와 감정을 전달하는 비언어적 언어가 되는 순간을 보여준다.
LIAO YITONG은 서로 다른 여성들의 경험과 자기표현을 통해 사회적으로 규정되어 온 여성 정체성을 새롭게 바라보고 다시 구성한다.
임성환은 소멸해 가는 도야마을과 그곳에 남은 사람들을 기록하며 가족과 공동체가 이어 온 시간을 되짚는다.
CHEN KEQING은 동물 모양의 풍선에 동반과 돌봄, 애착의 감정을 투영하는 사람들의 모습을 통해 현실과 상상의 경계를 흐린다.
박채원은 사랑과 경쟁, 의지와 거리감이 공존하는 자매 관계를 바라보며 서로를 다시 이해하고 화해해 가는 과정을 담는다.
이호준은 자동차를 이동 수단이 아닌 사적인 휴식과 감정 표현의 공간으로 바라보며 혼자만의 시간 속에서 드러나는 인간의 내면을 조명한다.
결국 《사이: BETWEEN US》는 사람에 대한 이야기다. 한 사람은 홀로 완성되는 것이 아니라 타인과 공동체, 공간과 기억 사이에서 끊임없이 형성된다.
이 전시는 우리 사이에 존재하는 보이지 않는 관계를 바라보며, 서로가 서로의 삶을 이루는 소중한 존재임을 다시 생각하게 한다.

No one can be explained alone.
A person is formed by the movements carried in the body, the relationships shared with others, the places where memories linger, and the traces left by time.
BETWEEN US looks beyond the figures and scenes before our eyes to the invisible "in-between" that has shaped their existence.
Moving between self and other, individual and community, and people and space, the eight artists see a person not as a fixed subject but as a being who keeps changing through relationships.
Here, the "in-between" is both a distance that separates us and a passage that connects us.
The emotions, memories, time, and traces gathered within it sit at the center of the exhibition.
Eight experiences, each rooted in a different life, come together in one space to reflect one another, and in doing so create a new "in-between" with each person who encounters them.
Kim Seeyoul documents the relationship between people and urban space through the roads that cut across the city and the daily lives of those who live beneath them.
KimSeoHyunWoo layers unlived lives and memories onto an unfamiliar neighborhood, questioning what home, family, and belonging mean.
Seo Minkyung uses fragmented and reassembled bodily movements to capture the moment when gesture becomes a nonverbal language that conveys attitude and emotion.
Liao Yitong draws on the experiences and self-expression of different women to look again at female identity as it has been defined by society, and to reconstruct it.
Lim seonghwan records the disappearing Doya Village and the people who remain there, tracing the time that families and the community have carried forward together.
Chen Keqing blurs the line between reality and imagination by portraying people who project feelings of companionship, care, and attachment onto animal-shaped balloons.
Park Chaewon looks at sisterhood, where love and rivalry, reliance and distance coexist, and follows the process of coming to understand each other anew and reconcile.
Lee Hojun sees the car not as a means of transport but as a private space for rest and emotional expression, shedding light on the inner self that emerges in time spent alone.
In the end, BETWEEN US is a story about people. No one is complete alone. Each of us is continually shaped between others and community, between space and memory.
By looking at the invisible relationships that exist between us, this exhibition invites us to reflect once more on how much we mean to one another, and how each of us helps make up the lives of others.
